Terms and Abbreviations
The following is a list of terms and abbreviations that are used throughout the web site and in the Profile Comments, Trainer Profiles, and Maiden Profiles. # REST XXX – 1st, 2nd, or 3rd race off a rest of greater than 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 240, or 365 days or more, with XXX representing the days. The # represents which occurrence it is 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. # CLAIM – 1st, 2nd, or 3rd race after being claimed. The # represents which occurrence it is 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. # TRSW – 1st, 2nd, or 3rd race off of a trainer switch, the horse was trained by another trainer in one or more of its previous races. The # represents which occurrence it is 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. # START – 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. horses lifetime start and generally applies to maidens. The # represents which occurrence it is 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. # TURF – 1st, 2nd, or 3rd race on turf. The # represents which occurrence it is 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. # LSX – 1st, 2nd, or 3rd race using the anti-bleeding medication, lasix. The # represents which occurrence it is 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. # USA – 1st, 2nd, or 3rd race for a horse from a foreign country. The # represents which occurrence it is 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. # TWW – 1st, 2nd, or 3rd try with winners (moving up from the maiden or maiden claiming ranks after winning). The # represents which occurrence it is 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. These fields can be used together, i.e. 1ST REST 30/TRSW/USA is the first race off of a rest of 30 or more days, first race with this trainer, and first start in the United States after shipping in from a foreign country. Another example is 1ST START/LSX which means that that this is the horse’s first lifetime start and first usage of lasix. UPCLS – horse was moved up in class from last race. UPMC – horse was moved up in class from a maiden claiming race. UPMD – horse was moved up in class from MD SP WT. DNCLS – horse was dropped in class from its last race. MD-MC – horse was dropped from MD SP WT to a maiden claiming. MC-MD – horse was raised in class from maiden claiming to a MD SP WT. DBCP – horse was dropped in class below its claiming price, for example, the horse was claimed in a race for $12,500 and is entered in this race for $7500, which means that the trainer is willing to let the horse be claimed for less than the previous purchase or claim price. BKXX – horse’s last race was ten days ago, or less, with the X representing the days since the last race. TTOD – switch from turf to dirt. DTOT – switch from dirt to turf. RTOS – switch from a route to a sprint. STOR – switch from a sprint to a route. BLKON – blinkers were put on the horse for this race. BLKOFF – blinkers were taken off for this race. JS – switch from low win percentage jockey to one of the top win percentage jockeys JML – Just missed winning the last race by a length or less. TRBLX – troubled was encountered consecutively in one or more of the last three races. If a trainer has shown success with a given pattern and the horse does not win due to encountering trouble (stumbled coming out of the gate, slow start, steadied, etc.) and then wins the next race, it just shows that the pattern may have still been successful had it not been for the trouble. WLR – Won Last Race. XWKS – number of workouts since last race with X representing the number. XBLT* – number of bullet workouts since last race with X representing the number. The ‘*’ indicates that the last workout (most current) was a bullet. LWX DF – number of days since last workout and the distance of the last workout, with X representing the number of days and D representing the distance, for example, LW7 6F means the last workout was 7 days ago and was for 6 furlongs. LRXX – number of days since Last Race with the XX representing the number of days. This will not be used with 1ST REST or back in 10 days or less (BK10). SHP XXX – the horse was shipped in from another track for this race with XXX representing the track. RACE CLASSES MCXXX – Maiden Claiming with the XXX representing the claiming price, i.e. MC12.5 translates to a $12,500 Maiden Claiming race. MOCXXX – Maiden Optional Claiming with XXX representing the claiming price, i.e. MOC32 translates to $32,000 Optional Claiming race. MDN – Straight Maiden (MD SP WT) race. CXXX – Claiming race with the XXX representing the claiming price, i.e. C35 translates to $35000 Claiming race. OCXX/#X – Optional Claiming Allowance with XXX representing the optional claiming price and # and X representing the conditions of the race, i.e. OC62/1X translates to a translates to an Allowance race for non-winners of one, other than maiden, maiden claiming, or claiming, or an optional claiming price $62,500. AXXS – Starter Allowance race with the XX being the starting amount, i.e. A32S translates to a Starter Allowance for those horses who started for a claiming price of $32000 or less. HXXS – Starter Handicap race with the XX being the starting amount, i.e. H25S translates to a Starter Handicap for those horses who started for a claiming price of $25000 or less. A#X – Restricted Allowance with # being the occurrence and X denotes that it’s a restricted race, i.e. A2X translates to a Restricted Allowance race for non-winners of two, other than maiden, maiden claiming, or claiming. A#2(L,Y,$,etc.) – Classified Allowance race with # being the occurrence followed by the classification designation. A3L translates to a Classified Allowance for non-winners of three races lifetime. SXXX – Ungraded Stakes race with XXX representing the purse. HXXX – Ungraded Handicap race with XXX representing the purse. G3 – Grade 3 Stakes Race G2 – Grade 2 Stakes Race G1 – Grade 1 Stakes Race |
